Terms of Service
Last updated 14 May 2026
These terms apply to every quote and every job carried out by The Car Mover, a trading name of Britannia Vehicle Delivery, operated by Tony in the United Kingdom. By booking a transport job with us, you agree to these terms.
Quotes and estimates
The figure shown by the on-site estimator is a guide only. A firm quote is given by Tony directly, once he understands the specifics — vehicle, condition, access, timing. A firm quote is valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
Booking and confirmation
A job is booked when both parties have confirmed in writing (text, email or WhatsApp) the date, the collection and delivery addresses, and the agreed price. We may ask for a small deposit on multi-day or long-distance jobs.
Your responsibilities
- Make sure the person at the collection address has authority to release the vehicle, and the person at the delivery address has authority to receive it.
- Tell us in advance about anything that affects loading: low-clearance bodywork, modified suspension, non-runners, flat batteries, deflated tyres, restricted access, narrow gates.
- Remove personal belongings before collection. We can't be responsible for items left in the vehicle.
- Make sure the vehicle is taxed and insured for any movement on the public highway that isn't on our transporter (e.g. driving onto the ramps).
Condition reports
We carry out a walk-round inspection at collection and at delivery, with photographs. The delivery report, signed or acknowledged by the receiver, is the agreed condition record. Please raise any concern at the point of delivery — claims raised after the transporter has left are difficult to substantiate.
Insurance
Vehicles in our care are covered by goods-in-transit insurance up to the limit of our policy. Higher-value vehicles may require additional agreed-value cover, which we'll discuss before booking. Pre-existing damage, mechanical failure, and items left in the vehicle are not covered.
Delays and cancellations
We work to confirmed dates and time windows, but transport is occasionally affected by weather, traffic, mechanical issues or circumstances at the collection or delivery address. We'll keep you informed and reschedule at no extra charge where the delay is on our side.
If you cancel a confirmed job with less than 48 hours' notice, we may charge a contribution to costs already incurred (typically the wasted mileage and time). Cancellations with more notice are free.
Waiting time and access
The first 30 minutes on site is included. Longer waits, repeated attempts at collection or delivery, or restricted-access charges (congestion, ULEZ, ferries, tolls) are passed on at cost or as discussed in the firm quote.
Payment
Unless agreed otherwise, payment is due in cleared funds before delivery — bank transfer is preferred. Trade accounts may be set up on agreed payment terms. Late payment may attract interest at the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Liability
Our total liability for any one job is limited to the lower of the market value of the vehicle and the limit of our goods-in-transit policy. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
