The Car Mover is a trading name of Britannia Vehicle Delivery, operated by Tony in the United Kingdom. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is the data controller
Tony, trading as Britannia Vehicle Delivery (The Car Mover), is the data controller for any personal information you share with us. You can reach the controller using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
When you contact us or request a quote, we may collect:
- Your name and the name of your business (if applicable)
- Your email address and phone number
- Collection and delivery postcodes, plus details about the vehicle (make, model, condition)
- Anything else you choose to tell us in a message — for example, access notes or timing requirements
We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics on this site, and we do not run advertising pixels.
Why we use it
We only use your information for the job you've asked us to do:
- To prepare and send you a quote
- To plan and carry out the collection and delivery of your vehicle
- To keep in touch with you about that job
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
Our lawful bases for processing are legitimate interests (responding to enquiries and running our transport business), contract (delivering the service you've asked for) and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
Quote estimator
The instant guide-price tool on this site sends the two postcodes you type to a public UK postcode service (postcodes.io) to calculate distance. We do not save the postcodes, the answers to the toggles, or the estimate that's shown. Nothing is logged or stored on our side.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information and we don't share it for marketing. Limited sharing happens only when it's needed to do the job — for example, confirming a collection address with the seller, or with our accountant for record-keeping. Anyone we share information with is bound to use it only for that purpose.
How long we keep it
Quote enquiries that don't turn into a job are deleted within 12 months. Records of completed jobs (invoices, delivery notes) are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements, then deleted.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- Ask us to delete your information (where we're not required by law to keep it)
- Object to or restrict how we use it
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis
To exercise any of these rights, just get in touch — there's no form to fill in. We'll respond within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. The current version is the only one that applies.
